Broadway is our friendly neighbourhood village idyll, a 40-minute meander from the Manor. It’s a favourite for antique hunters and boutique shoppers alike, with a wealth of individual shops and enticing cafés along its wide main street (hence the name).

The early 20th-century novelist EF Benson borrowed Broadway for a setting in his Mapp & Lucia series of comic novels, but modern-day visitors frequently come to visit the Gordon Russell Design Museum, dedicated to the work of the renowned furniture maker who was born here, or the more recently opened Ashmolean at Broadway, which showcases a rotating selection of paintings and furniture from the larger collection of Oxford’s iconic museum.
